Youth Unstoppables

While rugby and the STEM fields may seem quite different, achieving success in either requires focus, determination, and the ability to work as a team—something Youth Unstoppable Elin knows well.

Just nine years old, Elin is one of the first seven members of the World Rugby Youth Unstoppables program, which will champion and inspire the next generation of women's rugby players and fans around the world. She's also a participant in Girls4Tech, which inspires girls to build STEM skills to become the leaders of tomorrow through inquiry-based activities and real-world challenges.

The two initiatives came together recently in a new rugby-themed curriculum that was unveiled during a virtual Girls4Tech session that featured Elin and 10 of her teammates from Girls Rugby in Denver, Colorado.

The session, entitled Pioneering New Fields, also held a major surprise for Elin. Prior to the event, she met with Mastercard global brand ambassador Portia Woodman, a member of New Zealand's Women's Sevens team and Women's National Rugby Union team.

Woodman shared the exciting news that Elin would be honoured as the Fan of the Match at the Mastercard-sponsored Pacific Four Series match on November 5 in Glendale, Colorado. She then surprised Elin's teammates and their families with tickets to the Pacific Four Series matches between the USA and Canada on November 1 and November 5.

Watch the video to see Youth Unstoppable Elin fulfill her duties as Fan of the Match—which included walking out onto the pitch, meeting the Player of the Match, and receiving a special trophy—and enjoy some highlights from the match.
